Malta Guinness Street Dance Season Five (5)
Heroes
Dance Crew will be Ghana’s rep at the International Dance Organization (IDO)
World Hip Hop Championships in Germany. This was made known after the dance
crew won the 5th edition of the Malta Guinness Street Dance last Friday
September 14, 2012.
Heroes emerged winners after
judges scoring and Facebook fan page votes and beating their opponents;
Pipeline, One Spirit and Rockers of all time to take home the cash price of GHc
15000 and the once in a lifetime opportunity to dance on the world stage
An initiative by Malta which has
over the years and seasons given a platform for young, energetic and talented
guys and girls to showcase their exciting dance skills. The competition takes
dance crews through weeks of vigorous training and grooming to assist them
become professionals and effectively build a lucrative career in dance.
The grand finale of the season
held at the National Theatre in Accra opened with exhilarating dance
choreography by all four competing dance crews. This served, as a teaser of the
night will be.
The judges made grand entrances
with KOD doing the moonwalk to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Followed by Miss Bee
who was dressed in black dancing. Judge Reggie Rockstone the final Judge did
some spell bound dance moves that left the audience hungry for more after he had
left the stage.
The four dance crews were tasked
to be “futuristic – how dance will be in the future” saw Pipeline dressed in
workmen garb laying pipes had some good stunts and dance moves but did not awe
the audience or the three judges.
Heroes dance crew, appeared on
stage in Ninja attires projected some awesome kung-Fu moves into their dance
routine that had both the audience and the Judges impressed with their
creativity and energy.
Rockers of all time thrilled the
audience with their performance of blind people dancing in a group. They came
on stage holding black and white canes pretending to be blind men dancing.
Judges commended them for having a wild imagination for the future.
One Spirit futuristic dance was incorporated
with neon lights in their costume that came on as they dance. It was an
exciting performance although they wardrobe malfunction later in the
performance.
The last task was the personal
dance routine by all four-dance crews. This time Pipeline and Rockers were a
little more impressive but they could hold a candle to Heroes and One spirit,
who both did jaw dropping stunts and dance moves. After the last performance by
One Spirit, everyone thought they had won the competition but turned out to be
a night for Heroes Dance crew.
The grand finale also saw
performances by hip life giants VIP, EL and Guru and with his Lapaz Toyota song
had the audience dancing. Ayekoo to Heroes, hope they go far in the world
championship and show the world Ghana’s famous azonto moves.
