Rapper Nas pays tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, on his classy video for their posthumous duet, “Cherry Wine” off his latest album “Life is Good”.

Facebook Hits One Billion Active Users

Facebook just officially reached one billion active users, Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced.

“This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month. If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.

Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life. I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too,” wrote Zuckerberg in an official blog post.

Facebook had 955 million active users in July 2012, and though gaining 45 million users is not a small task, it seems as if the world’s biggest online social network took a little bit more time than expected reaching the 1 billion-milestone.

Still, it’s an enormous number, dwarfing most other players in the social networking space by several orders of magnitude. It took Facebook several years to reach the magical 100 million number back in 2008, but from then on it seemed like Mark Zuckerberg’s baby could not be stopped.

However, Facebook started looking a lot more vulnerable after its stock plummeted following the less-than-stellar initial public offering in May 2012.

South Korean Rapper Psy Tops UK chart

Rapper Psy has become the first South Korean pop star to make it to the top of the UK singles chart with his song Gangnam Style.
The track has become a global phenomenon and the video featuring his famous horse-riding dance is YouTube's most "liked" of all time.

It entered the top 40 at number 37 two weeks ago, jumping to number three last Sunday.
Gangnam Style knocked The Script's Hall of Fame off top spot.
The Irish band is now at number two, with US rapper Flo Rida at number three with his single I Cry.

The highest new entry was DJ Fresh's The Feel at number 13.
Mumford & Sons' new album, Babel, has gone straight to the top of the UK album chart.
The band recently revealed that a song on Babel features a line "lifted completely" from Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall.

The band's frontman, Marcus Mumford, admitted to being inspired by the Man Booker Prize-winning novel in an interview with BBC Radio 4's Front Row.
He said it was "definitely" a line spoken by central character Thomas Cromwell, but chose not to elaborate.
"I'm not going to tell you which, because I think it might be illegal."
Babel follows their 2009 award-winning debut, Sigh No More, which also re-entered the top 40 this week at number 10.

There is another new entry at number two, Green Day's Uno, the first of a trilogy of albums.

Opera duo Jonathan and Charlotte, who were contestants on the last series of Britain's Got Talent, debuted at number five on the chart with their album, Together.
No Doubt's first album in more than a decade entered the chart at number 16.
Push and Shove is the follow up to 2001's Rock Steady.

On his appointment, Rocky said, “As a musician, I know how to use my voice and my heart to connect with people, and when I learned that cooking kills two million people worldwide every year, I knew I had to stand up and speak out to help the alliance raise awareness.

In my native Ghana, throughout Africa, and around the world, it’s clear that the time for clean cook stoves and fuels is now, and I’m ready to do my part to assist the alliance in reaching its goal.”

World leaders from civil society, the private sector, and the philanthropic community as well as research pioneers and government representatives came together during the UN General Assembly to discuss the multiple facets of the household air pollution issue, which impacts three billion people daily, and to make major new announcements on behalf of the alliance, its partners, and the sector.

geared up to fulfil all expectations and more at the prestigious SYNC LONDON venue on Saturday 24th November 2012.

Within its niche, The Awards will seek to “Establish International Recognition for Ghanaian music, musicians, and culture”. This year's Ghana Music Awards - Europe ceremony is much improved with a live broadcast of the event, showcasing live performances from Ghana's music giants and top musicians from Europe. The ceremony is expected to attract a live audience of 2,500 people and worldwide televised audience in excess of 5 million - via the internet and satellites televisions including Klear TV, BEN TV, Hi TV, Passion TV, Vox Africa, and Channel U.

Music Moguls, Film Legends, Fashion Gurus, and Football Stars, will all participate in the function's festivities, making it truly the most glamorous Ghanaian event in Europe.

There are a total of 10 public voting categories and 3 honours award. This year's 'Life Time Achievement' with an unconvincing total select committee votes, will go to an internationally acclaimed musician for his effortlessly combining the guitar hi life style of playing and unique talent.

Ghanaians in Europe especially the UK just can't wait to experience yet another glamour and glitter show and the roster of musicians from Ghana and Europe with its fusion of classic and contemporary
acts which could be both spectacular and elegant.

A warm glow of having to see something memorable and wonderful seem to settle on the anticipated audience as the event draws closer, when asked why he established the Ghana Music Awards Europe when there is a similar ceremony held in Ghana, this is what Eric McKaiser – CEO and Founder GMA EU had to say:

“Ghanaian music is the eternal bond between millions of others like me settled abroad and our roots, motherland Ghana.

Over the many years I have been in the United Kingdom, I observed that it is the magnificent medium of Ghanaian music, which is an enduring and lovable link between Ghanaians in the Diaspora and their folks back home. Be they following the latest stars and songs, or cherishing old classics, the music lovers in Europe and else where are in close touch with the song happenings in Ghana.

By staging the Ghana Music Awards ceremony in Europe, Ghanaian entertainers would get the opportunity to acquire global exposure on the greater level, and as we continue to live in a global village, break the norm of our 4-Walled publicity for Ghanaian talents and acts not forgetting our rich culture which in the long run will attract investors into Ghana.

Also, audiences in the Europe will have the opportunity of seeing and partying with Ghana's top performers, most of whom are so far unknown outside of Ghana especially to our children born in Europe.

Ghana Music Awards Europe among its many aims is to fund raise to support HIV/AIDS Orphans in Ghana.

Right from the conception, planning and execution of this mega event, my colleagues and I have, and will be leaving no stone unturned to make the Ghana Music Awards Europe ceremony a glamorous and historic event with panache.

On this note, I would like to wish all nominees the very best of luck, thank God for his love and mercy, The Ghana High Commission – UK and Ireland, Musician Union Of Ghana, Ghana Tourist Board, and Sponsors for their massive support.

New, Lighter iPhone Hailed By Exhausted, Humpbacked iPhone 4 Users

LA. The nation’s hunchbacked, out-of-breath iPhone users lined up outside Apple stores throughout the country today to purchase the new iPhone 5, which boasts a widely anticipated slimmed down, lighter design that promises to no longer irreversibly misshape the curvature of users’ spines.

“I’m really excited for the iPhone 5’s 4G connectivity and the fact that it won’t dislocate my shoulder whenever I pick it up to answer it,” said severely disfigured graphic artist Gabe Brittell, 32, huffing and puffing under the weight of the hefty previous version of the device that he had strapped to his back via strong, braided nylon cords. “Finally a thinner model that won’t shatter my hip and take 20 years off my life by permanently deforming my torso and vertebrae!”

Executives said they anticipated sales of the iPhone 5 to be down compared to previous years, citing the roughly 2 million Apple fans who have been crushed to death under the iPhone 4S.
