THE HEADIES 2012 UNVEILS ROOKIE
COMPETITION
Nigeria’s biggest and best-organized
music award is back with something new. The Headies presents the Rookie Competition.
The prestigious award is giving one talented upcoming act, a once in a lifetime
opportunity to perform on the big stage. Over the next week, members of the
general public will suggest names of talented upcoming acts that meet the
eligibility criteria of the Headies Rookie Competition.
The top 5 acts will be announced
and voting will commence on the Headies’ official website www.theheadies.com via the Headies Rookie
Competition Page. Once voting ends, the act with the most votes will be
announced as the winner and gets to perform at the main event of The Headies.
The 2nd and 3rd acts will also be given a chance to perform at one of The
Headies Nominees Party.
To vote for your favorite
upcoming act visit The Headies Rookie Competition Page between September 19 and
September 26, 2012 and suggest the names of upcoming acts by leaving a comment
on the Headies Rookie Competition page. Your comment should include the name of
the upcoming act and their song.
On September 27, five shortlisted
Rookies with the most suggestions will be announced on the Beat Fm’s Midday
Show with Toolz and voting commences immediately on the Headies Rookie
Competition page. Voting will end on October 4, 2012.
The winner of the Headies Rookies
competition will be announced on October 17, 2012.
To qualify for The Headies Rookie Competition the Upcoming
Act must satisfy the following criteria
1. Upcoming act must have never been nominated for/won any
award categories at The Headies (including nominations at this year’s event)
2. Upcoming act must have at least one officially released
single in the Nigerian music market
3. Upcoming act must have no album(s) to his/her name
released before February 2012
4. Upcoming act must be a citizen of Nigeria (not open to
foreign nationals)
