Government reprimands
‘’Tweaa’’ DCE
Citifmonline
The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon
Akwasi Oppong Fosu has reprimanded the District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano
South, Gabriel Barima.
This follows his conduct during a gathering of hospital
employees in the district where he abandoned his speech in anger when a member
from the audience heckled him saying, ‘’Tweeeaa’’.
A statement signed by Deputy Local Government Minister
Emmanuel Kojo Agyekum stated in part that: “government takes a very serious view
of Mr. Barimah’s conduct as it runs contrary to provisions in the Code of
Conduct for Public officials launched last year.” It adds that “government has
taken into account the DCE’s profuse apology and genuine show of remorse
following the incident.”
The DCE has therefore been cautioned to refrain from similar
conducts in the future and show better leadership in his dealings with his
constituents.
The Ahafo Ano South DCE’s outbursts generated nationwide
debate and criticisms which prompted investigations by the sector ministry.
